Raven Burnes Personal Finance Getting Started

Getting Started

The hardest part of any endeavor is simply getting started. I have found that the more a process is automated, the more I’m likely to do it.

With that in mind, I want to recommend a budget website that I’ve been using successfully for several months. I have no financial ties to this company, I just like the product. And it’s free!

It’s called Everydollar.com. It’s extremely easy to use. You just enter your expected salary for the month and then enter numbers for all the categories you have, such as rent, gas, etc. It automatically subtracts your bills from your salary, and when everything balances (meaning every single dollar of your salary is assigned to a particular bill or savings), it tells you that “It’s an Everydollar Budget!” It also lets you know if you still have money to assign, or if you’ve gone over.

I have found that doing this every month has given me enormous peace of mind. I know in advance if I have money to do something or not. And, if something comes up and I have an unexpected expense or unexpected income, I can easily go back in and juggle the numbers until everything is balanced. It beats paper and pen (at least for me) by a mile!

The first step to financial freedom is clarity. If you’re already clear – congratulations! You are a unicorn. If you’re not, and you’re just hoping for the best every month, give this program a try. It’s free, it’s easy, and it might make you realize that you have more money than you thought. At the very least, it will help you gain some control and, thus, freedom.

I’d love to hear how you liked the program and if it helped you.

My goal for this blog is to create a down-to-earth discussion of finance related topics and news. I hope you enjoy it.

Blessings and support,

Raven
