A Poem Saying Goodbye

Charles

You prickly brick doughnut.

You pulpy metal pipe.

You laughed like a pebble pinging down a mineshaft.

You shed like a banana, but couldn’t avoid the slip.

Charles.

I hate,

Hate.

Hate you,

Charles, because you gave me Brevity,

Charles, you exposed my mortality,

Charles, you published my insensitivity.

You jumped.

Charles, come back. Somehow?

Charles, I’m sorry I couldn’t help you.
